Alumna Takes Stage at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre
Lindsay Bell, 2013 alumna from Stuart, Florida, has taken the stage at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre in the show Disney Newsies: The Musical.
Bell, among many other theatre professionals, have the goal of performing on Broadway. However, Bell considers herself lucky to have already been a part of many of her dream shows.
“I love that I get to fully immerse myself in a character and bring that person to life onstage as honestly as possible for other people to enjoy,” said Bell.
A Chorus Line at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre was one of Bell’s most memorable shows because of the power of the story and her relationship with the cast, she said.
“Dancing to Michael Bennett's choreography every night was a very liberating experience,” said Bell.
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is Florida’s largest professional, award-winning, not-for-profit regional theatre. Previously, Bell served as associate choreographer for the show Billy Elliot, which won the 2016 Carbonell Award for best choreography.
Bell’s involvement with musical theatre began at a very young age as she took part in classical ballet and dance. She went on to join a youth ballet company and was promoted to the professional ballet company when she was 15. She danced professionally in the company until she began her freshman year at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
During her time at PBA, the theatre arts major served as secretary for the National Theatre Honors Society. She said that Don Butler, retired associate professor of theatre, not only served as her mentor but taught her valuable lessons in directing, choreography, being an honest actor and a well-rounded performer.
In 2012, Bell was awarded the Kravis Center Student Spotlight, and PBA’s Frank Wright Scholarship. She is trained in ballet, jazz, modern dance, tap, acting, screen acting, stage combat, voice and intensives.
