Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Gregory School of Pharmacy has appointed Dr. Jay Jackson as assistant dean for students.

Jackson will continue serving as the school’s assistant professor of pharmacy practice.

“Jay is a gifted individual [who demonstrates] excellence in his teaching responsibilities, in his clinical responsibilities and in his leadership,” the school’s dean Dr. Jeffrey Lewis said in announcing the promotion. “I am grateful for his willingness to now apply his giftedness and his passion for students in this new assignment.”

On Tuesday, Jackson was also named the Gregory School of Pharmacy 2018 Teacher of the Year, Lewis noted.

Jackson graduated from PBA with a doctor of pharmacy degree in 2012 and was the recipient of the “Outstanding Graduate” award, the highest honor given by the School of Pharmacy.  He’s served as a faculty member for the past five years.

Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jackson’s first stint at PBA was as a college athlete after he was recruited in high school to play on the university’s Sailfish basketball team.

In a 2012 interview, Jackson's comments were prophetic when he  said: “My PBA experience has been outstanding. I plan to build on it and use my pharmacy skills to serve others and honor God.”

Today Jackson is a member of Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International, Rho Chi academic honor society, and the Phi Lambda Sigma pharmacy leadership society. He resides with his wife Tiffany, daughter Eliana, son Elijah and daughter Eden in West Palm Beach.
