PNC FOUNDATION FUNDS PRESCHOOL LAB FOR VILLAGE ACADEMY STUDENTS

The school received $60,000 from the PNC Foundation for a preschool lab.

VILLAGE ACADEMY ELEMENTARY

 The lab, created out of a partnership with Palm Beach State College’s Institute of Excellence in Early Care and Education, the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium, the Young At Art Museum and the school districts of Broward and Palm Beach County to bring STEAM to preschools, will serve as a children’s museum within the school.

SOUTHTECH PREPARATORY ACADEMY

An open house takes place at 6:30 p.m. today at the campus of this tuition-free charter school, 1325 Gateway Blvd., Boynton Beach. School staff will be on hand to provide information on academic and student-support services, clubs and organizations. Admissions assistance will be available. SOUTHTECH ACADEMY

An open house begins a 6:30 p.m. April 26 on the campus, 1300 SW 30th Avenue, Boynton Beach. The tuition-free charter school, serving grades nine to 12, offers 13 career academies and more than 30 industry certifications. The school also offers an expanded AP program and dual enrollment. Dunkin Donuts has launched its South/Southwest Florida Scholarship Program, which will award $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. The school district’s Information Technology Division is sponsoring summer internships to public high school students. The six-week program operates Monday through Thursday, with 8-hour workdays. Interns will be paid $10.50 an hour. Students are responsible for their own transportation. More information is available at the school website, under district news.
