Students Drum Up Excitement as District’s Accreditation Review Begins
After months of preparation and planning, the School District of Palm Beach County will undergo its re-accreditation process through AdvancED from January 28-31.
Members of the accreditation review team of AdvancED were welcomed to the District office Monday with a performance from the Lincoln Elementary School Drumline. Reviewers from AdvancED will also visit several schools, meeting with principals, teachers, and students.
Additionally, District employees, parents, and business partners will be interviewed as part of the re-accreditation process.
District accreditation is a powerful systems approach to improving student performance results and organizational effectiveness. Accreditation recognizes that increasing student achievement involves more than improving instruction. It is a result of how well all the parts of the education system – the District, school, and classroom – work together to meet the needs of students.
The District has been accredited by AdvancED since 2008, a process that required all District schools to meet the AdvancED standards, engage in a continuous process of improvement, and demonstrate quality assurance through internal and external reviews.
All stakeholders benefit from accreditation. District employees benefit because they can be confident that the compliance and quality of the education we provide is continuously, systematically, and rigorously reviewed, updated, and examined.
Students and parents benefit because they know the quality of education in the District meets national accreditation standards. Additionally, accreditation fosters program accountability to the public, and engagement in continuous peer review and improvement.
