VP Nominated for Prestigious Leadership Award
Vice President for Development Vicki Pugh is a finalist for an ATHENA Leadership Award.
The Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches hosts the annual ATHENA Leadership Awards Luncheon, which recognizes individuals, young professionals and organizations for exemplary leadership. The ATHENA Leadership Award’s rich history, international scope and focus on mentorship distinguish it as one of the most prestigious leadership awards one can receive.
The University is a finalist in the Organizational Leadership Award category, which honors businesses or organizations that encourage women employees to achieve their full leadership potential and that give back to the larger community of women and girls by providing and/or supporting leadership development opportunities and initiative.
Pugh is one of six individual finalists. Recipients are individuals who have achieved the highest level of professional excellence; contributed time and energy to improve quality of life for others in the community; and actively assisted others, particularly women, in realizing their full leadership potential.
Prior to her appointment as the University’s vice president for development in 2012, Pugh served as an executive with the YMCA in Florida for 11 years. She assisted with association-wide fundraising, marketing, childcare and training initiatives. Before joining the YMCA, she was director of corporate and foundation support for the University for five years.
Previously, Director of Workship Kate Magro was a finalist for the Young Professional Leadership Award, and Director of Athletics Carolyn Stone was a finalist for the ATHENA Leadership Award. The Young Professional Leadership Award is given to emerging leaders who demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their profession; provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community and clearly serve as role models for young women personally and professionally.
The 28th annual awards ceremony is Sept. 20 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
