PBSC Alum Now a Baltimore Orioles Major League Player

Palm Beach State College baseball alumnus Nicholas “Nick” Vespi is now a Baltimore Orioles Major League Baseball player.

Vespi, who pitched for PBSC during the 2015 season, was drafted later that year in the 18th round and signed with the Orioles to play for their minor league affiliate teams.

“Nick was a great pitcher for the Panthers and was a very solid teammate as well,” said PBSC Head Baseball Coach Kyle Forbes. “He has certainly earned this promotion to the major leagues, and we are so proud of him.”

Vespi, a left-handed pitcher, was invited to spring training with the Orioles this year. Prior to being called up from their AAA affiliate this year, he posted an overall record in the minor leagues of 30 wins, 20 loses with 19 saves and an earned run average of 2.91 with a walks and hits per inning pitched of 1.09 since 2015.  In 2021, he was named an Arizona Fall League Rising Star with the Mesa Solar Sox team.

While at the College, Vespi and his teammates were named the Southern Conference champions with Vespi being named conference Fireman of the Year. Before PBSC, he attended high school at Elev8 Baseball Academy in Delray Beach. Fans can follow Vespi on Twitter and Instagram at @whoisnickv.

This is the second year in a row that a PBSC alumnus has made it to the major leagues. Last year, Cody Wilson signed with the Washington Nationals. To date, PBSC baseball has had 14 alumni make it to the major leagues. For more information on PBSC baseball, visit www.pbscpanthers.com.
